George Washington Stisher died Sunday May 21, 2000 in his home in Roachdale. He was born April 9, 1919 at Lawrenceburg, TN to Ambers and Sallie F Liles Stisher. He married Charlotte Jean Hall who is deceased. He then married Jessie Hanks Sept. 11, 1968 in Bainbridge. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, George A. Stisher, Zionsville, Mickey Stisher, LaPorte and two stepsons, John Hanks, Crawfordsville and James Hanks, Darlington. Also surviving is a daughter, Janice Hanks, Bargersville, three stepdaughters, Mary Lynn Helmerick, Indianapolis, Emily Swords, Darlington and Linda Baird, Greencastle.

Two sisters, Doris McCaleb and Virginia Tice, both of Lawrenceburg, Tn and a brother, Thomas Stisher, Destin, FL survive as well as 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Stisher was retired from Arkansas Best Freight System and had served in WWII aboard the U. S. S. Caution for the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Naval Minewarfare Association and U. S. MINEDIV 29 and the Roachdale Christian Church.

Services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Wed., May 24 in Roachdale Christian Church. Calling will be 4-8 p. m. May 23 in the church. (Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, Roachdale handling the services). Burial will be in the Bainbridge Cemetery.
